Small Town Girl Found in New York Laundry

Golden Local, Daughter, Writer, Marketing and Sales Team Member.
Two years ago is when it really started to click into place when I was in New York and I was staying in an apartment in Tribeca, which I could have never have afforded, but I was there with my best friend who had worked at Heather Mountain Lodge, and who was expecting to return to Heather Mountain Lodge that winter, and we were in this apartment, because this heli ski guest had said we could stay there. I remember feeling so proud, like people would ask us, “oh you are staying in Tribeca?” and kind of look us up and down [laugh], it was a point of pride, and it always has been, to be able to say yeah my mom knows this person and this is why. It’s kind of funny, we used their house like it was our own for about a month and looked after their animals and there were clothes in the dryer and washer when I got there so I kept their laundry going and one of the shirts in the dryer was a Great Canadian Heli-Skiing t-shirt, and I love feeling like I was still the small town girl in New York, where it’s not, you know, home, and just finding the kind of the Golden…I loved finding Golden in the world and in the rest of my life. When leaving I always thought that was special and it made me feel like I was from somewhere more interesting than where I was, or just as interesting as where I was and that was when I realized, that of course that’s where any writer writes from… or anybody begins; from their own start, their beginnings their hometown is used as the foundation of who you are so don’t try to run away from that…you shouldn’t, you should seek it out… right?
